The reasonable cost of servicing a Nissan Qashqai was one of the reasons I bought mine.

In 2016 that meant a Minor Service was £149 and a Major Service was £239. That was comparable to what I'd been paying Skoda.

In 2017 when I had a Major Service at Wessex Gloucester, the costs were £159 and £249 - OK, a small increase of £10.

I've just booked it in for the 2018 minor service at Wessex Gloucester and the website quoted £219 - I nearly fell off my chair!

What can possibly have resulted in this change - apart from it possibly being a "tax" to recoup warranty costs?

Then I checked at Nissan and https://www.nissan.co.uk/ownership/niss ... -care.html states:

Minor Service = £199 - Major Service = £259. (These are for petrol models - diesel costs are quoted at £219/£319)

Googling < Wessex Garages servicing cost > pulled up a page I hadn't seen before - https://www.wessexgarages.com/nissan/se ... vice-care/

That states: "STARTING FROM JUST £149 FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES, £199 FOR PETROL AND £219 FOR DIESEL" and also quotes the £199/£259+£219/£319 prices as Nissan's website. Though confusingly they also state:

No matter how old your Nissan is our prices are fixed. You simply choose from a major or minor service for a petrol from £215, diesel from £250 or EV from £199 Nissan, and in return receive fantastic added benefits.

ADDED BENEFITS

Courtesy car (or we’ll arrange transport for you).
Vehicle Assessment Video via email, identifying any required work so you can make an informed decision.
Approved Quality Parts fitted by Nissan Trained Technicians.
Free Vehicle Software Updates.

Ahha! Perhaps Wessex are trying to charge me for a diesel service! Despite the fact I booked with my car registration number which the website recognised.

Nevertheless even £199 is a heck of a rise from £159 last year. 25% !!!

That's a 25% increase just for the minor service!

When I collected my QQ last September, I paid £249 upfront for the first two services. Seems like a real bargain now. :)

Since I hadn't received an acknowledgement from Wessex and a phone call to them just got me put through (eventually) to an answering machine I sacrificed my lunch hour to go down there to find out what was going on.

Despite much button pressing on the computer over an extended period he could find no trace of my internet booking. So it was start again. Then he couldn't fit me in for tomorrow which was what my internet booking was for.

Then when I asked what the cost of the service was I was advised £215. I pointed out and even showed them on my phone that their website was quoting £199 for a minor service. They agreed to do it at that price.

When I pointed out that the cost last year for a Minor Service would have been £159 they initially said costs are always increasing. I said not THAT much! Then they volunteered that the pollen filter is now replaced EVERY year not just every two years. Well that does somewhat explain it - but when I said I'd have the cost of the pollen filter replacement knocked off please they refused. I might try again on this since I've only done 5,000 miles - less than half the 12,500 limit for a service.

I may still challenge them on the fact that they didn't even ask if I wanted a courtesy car (which is supposedly "free"). He said there wasn't one available for Thursday. Luckily I don't need one since I work close by but if I'd been expecting one I might have turned up on Thursday and been stranded...

I was told they were going up at my last service, but if I signed up for a service plan I'd get my major service due in October at last years prices + free MOT.

Wasn't sure if they were telling the truth or not, or just wanting to get me to sign up, but looks like I made the right decision now.

FREE CAR?

My dealer's free car requires you to buy insurance; last time was a tenner.
The car offered? - a very knackered, ancient Micra. :(

Last time I took up the offer of a "Nissan courtesy car" from a Westway Main Dealer, this involved them driving me 15 mins through rush hour traffic to an Enterprise rent-a-car office, and hiring me a car, having to sit in the Enterprise office for a further 45 mins. Was 90 mins late to work in the end, would only have been 15 mins late if I'd just got the bus instead.

Perhaps service costs have increased because Nissans are more reliable now and dealers are getting less work through warranty claims...?

I'll get my coat...

i know im not allowed to mention the J10 but my mechanic serviced mine for 89 euro using Nissan parts, i would never dream of paying £219 for £50 worth of bits and oil and half hours labour.
