Craig, please take a look at the “Search” Area firstly as normally there are a load of already posted facts on many subjects. Take a look at this old post and the video which might help you. Incidently We had a new Charcoal Filter fitted this week during our service and I asked should this be a yearly action and I got the nod - Dave :)

Dave, that's for a 2009 J10 model; recall on J11 models is on other side in front of driver pedals.

Think on previous query on this I posted link for a Rogue on YouTube.
Sure it's harder than on the J10, and will give you scraped knuckles in the process!

I asked why the yearly service had gone up so much (£40) - I was told because the pollen filter is now changed yearly. I said don't bother since I've only done 5,000 miles since the last service when it was changed - they refused. Yet another reason for selling the car!

This article might be worth reading although from the US, but it does state reasons for changing which is just as our Service Guy stated this week when I asked why it is now yearly (looked on our receipts). Ours Nissan #272774BU0A Carbon Filter cost €21 plus installation which I find reasonable and cleaner air to me is important as the wife has Asthma - Dave :)

As this subject just arose on another post please be aware if you are buying. It appears that looking through some suppliers the same Nissan OEM No. Is being used for a Std or Carbon Filter, but the difference is the price so be careful - Dave 😉

Controlled Tests were carried out by the “Autobild” Car Magazine here in Düsseldorf which has proved the difference in Cabin Air Quality when using Carbon Filters. Just in short over days using the same times, routes 3x Tests with Std & Carbon Filters were carried out and the NO2 figures were : Std = 59 / 110 / 74, Carbon = 8 / 7 / 5. Recommendations to change were 15,000 Kms or every year.

Please do not take this as "Scary" Stuff it is just Facts on what I consider to be important for my Family and just thought I would update and share it and it is hopefully of some interest - Dave :D

I posted recently on the subject of the Internal Pollen Filters and this has again been mentioned in the Motoring Press (Autobild / Heidelberg University) here again this week. The recommendation after the Tests is to install the Carbon Type Filter which apparently removes around 92% of the NO2 pollutions which the Std Paper Filter does not. The problem is that the NO2 Nitrogen Oxide Gas when inside the vehicle can attack the Mucous Membranes, cause Eye Irritation, shortness of breath, coughing etc.. :(

What I have been doing in the past is that as soon as a Diesel or Petrol Smell enters the QQ inside I Switch over to Internal Air Circulation :

IMG_3858.jpg

I read that the Nissan QQ Filter #272774-BU0A was one of these Filters (as mentioned before). Well after digging in on the details it is NOT and the facts are wrong !. I visited our Dealer on the weekend and spoke with the Service Mgr. who confirmed this and I told him I was concerned due to the reports and the fact that Nissan DO NOT install these Filters at manufacture only the Std Paper Type. On assessing the problem we found a compatible Active Carbon Filter Nissan #27277-4BU0P in the Dealers Store (250x180x35) and this was installed in 5 mins FOC and the Std Filter#272774-BU0A was removed.

The Filter is basically a 4 Layer Construction :
1st Layer - stops the biggest dirt particles.
2nd Layer - Activated Carbon Layer stops the Gases NO2, Pollen, Soot etc…
3rd Layer - Microfibre Electrostatic Filter cleans the smallest particles from the air.
4th Layer – is the Carrier which stabilizes the Layers to give a perfect function.

I have looked on the Web and found information on for example MANN Filters, the Std is #CU25 003 and the Carbon #FP25 003 which suits the QQ and might well be worth a read especially if Family members Old or Young suffer from Breathing / Lung problems etc…
There are other Suppliers for example : Bosch, Denso, Mahle, Hummel, Valeo etc…

I have attached the Mann data for reference on the QQ Models :
