Hi folks,

Picking up a 2015 1.5 ntec+ in nightshade tomorrow. Can't wait!

Been lurking on here all week and already have an extensive list of little bits and bobs waiting to go onto the car.

Already ordered
•Nextbase dash cam and hard wire kit.
•Latest sat nav sd card as the cars seems to have gone walkabout.
•Team heko wind deflectors
•Bonnet struts

Next pay days treat will be the black running boards from Autoline.

I used to be obsessed with car detailing and would spend hours and hours getting cars to better than showroom standards...then came children and I gave up on it .
But this car seems to have sparked the fire again and have spent the last week restocking all my detailing supplies to get the new motor looking slick.

As soon as I've got my hands on the car I'll post some pictures, it's getting a full interior, exterior and engine bay detail after the weekend so I'll do some before and after pictures.

Thanks for all the info so far!

Greg

Like others, you may find that the running boards are more of a hindrance than a help!

Greg86, I am also one that likes to “Personalise” owned vehicles. I tend also to agree with gvmdaddy on his comments, we have tried these and for us they tend to get in the way on for example the QQ. Now another difference is that we have been driven around by a friend in his Chevrolet Traverse (7 Seater) which is Big and I personally found these Running Boards a real help. But again the decision on what is done is a personal decision and yes they do look, OK Cool 😎 - Dave :D

I test drove a Hyundai Tucson with running boards, blooming awkward things, you couldn’t give them to me for free.

What makes them so awkward? While aesthetics is important I will reconsider if they're just an impractical pain in the arse lol, as that defeats the object of this car.

Sat in a showroom QQ Tekna which had running boards fitted and found they caught my ankles and made it more difficult to get in and out, so even if they are considered by some to be 'cool' I would never have them either.

I had running boards on my Freelander and, yes, they made it harder to get out even though they didn't protrude much, and they got dirt on my trousers (*) - but it was easier to get in the back and MUCH easier to clean the roof! :)

* - you can see here on this rather poor photo what I mean!

Greg, after seeing the state of Gloucester’s Freelancer one point came up. My brother in the U.K. had a top of the range Audi Q7 fitted with Side Steps and was always complaining about the dirt, slippy and water laying on them. We found that he had no Wheel Arch Splash Guards and these were not available for this UK model, I even tried in Germany - No Go !. Just a suggestion if you do not have them it might well help to install them, we did and it does keep the sides cleaner, they are worth the outlay - Dave :D

The mud guards are on the watch list dave, but the wife's banned me from spending any more money until next pay day......But I've found some for £17 so I might sneak that past her :D
