Happy New Year All,

I was thinking of buying winter tyres as I live out in the wilds, and by coincidence my neighbour has just sold his 2010 5 door 1.5dci N-Tec Qashqai. Sitting in his garage are a set of Nokian WR G2 "Sport Utility" "All Weather Plus" low temperature tyres; 215/60 R17 100V XL M+S, attached to a nice set of Enzo alloy wheels. My Qashqai N-Connecta DIG-T Xtronic 1197 petrol is fitted with continental tyres, 215/55 R18 99V.

Despite much research and speaking to Nissan (mmm should be OK!,) I can't find a definitive answer that my neighbours' wheels and tyres will fit my Qashqai. Some views are positive and still others negative, and the whole process has left me confused.

Does anyone have any practical knowledge or experience of matching these models, and/or of fitting new rims.

Any advice would be much appreciated

You can easier check whether the wheels will actually go on the car, so the final point to check is offset - which should be marked on the wheels somewhere?

Seeing as it’s your neighbour and you know exactly what he’s got and they’re available, why not just ask to try one out for size!

:D Some great suggestions. Thanks very much to you all, I'll be sitting down tonight and going through the references. I was going to just put them on and give it a go but the"offset" bothered me. No idea yet what that means but thanks to this forum I will later!

I'll post the result when done. Thanks again

The offset is the distance between the wheel centreline and the hub

You may have problems if it's significantly different between the wheels.

It’s whether the inside or outside edge of the tyre will catch on the wheel arches or not.

https://www.wheel-size.com/size/nissan/qashqai/2016/

Looks like 40mm offset on both and since the J10 ones are narrower there shouldn't be any clearance issues.

Does depend on the wheels having been correct for the 2010 car though - check having looked at https://www.oponeo.co.uk/tyre-article/h ... l-markings
