Hi, just had a drive out recently, what with speed cams, road works, traffic jams, does anybody really enjoy driving any more, or is it me getting old and grumpy.

Nope me too, since a brain haemorrhage in 2016 I just don’t enjoy driving anymore.not enough to hang up my string backed driving gloves but I know exactly what you feel, I used to drive to Bristol and back every month (200 miles dead on , each way) now? Wouldn’t even think about it....

I work from home so go nowhere all week long. I still look for for excuses/reasons to have to go somewhere just for a drive as i miss doing so each day.

I still enjoy driving except for the Jams, over here there are always horrendous jams due to road works, bridge repairs and the Truck accidents. We have just driven from Berlin to the Ostsee N.Germany Navi planned time for 300Kms 3hours in total it took 4+ as the last 50Kms had mainly 30Km Limits through towns, Traffic Volume (Bank Holiday) Jams + Radar Traps & Single Lane roads - Frustrating !
Oh for an Auto Box Dave 🤨

Driving is now just a means of getting from A to B, I enjoy arriving at my destination but the actual journey is not so enjoyable. Since retiring I tend to drive when other people are at work and I have no real pressure on me to reach a destination at a defined time.

Many town roads are just obstacle courses nowadays. The standard of driving isn't very good from a lot of people who are in such a hurry. I often see someone doing 40 mph and still accelerating when in a 30 zone when the traffic lights ahead have just turned to red. It just doesn't make any sense to me. Like PJB729 I do most of my driving between the rush hours and I find that is much better.

I still love driving, but only with the set up I have and which changes as I get older. Auto box is now a must, along with cruise control both of which I thought was a gimic when I first had them on my past cars. The seats must be comfortable, and preferably electric with memory, unfortunately I am not sure if that available on QQ's.

I should have been more explicit, I also want £30 road tax and a 1600 diesel engine to tow my caravan and a lot less that the Tekna + :D :D

DaveBerlin - sorry but I'm going to HAVE to jump in here despite your feelings.

My advice would be to get a Suzuki Ignis. It's got nearly the same performance as the 1.2Dig-T, loads of room inside (except the boot), sliding rear seats (hey presto! bigger boot!), gadgets galore (climate, cruise, sat nav, anti-collision, keyless go, etc.), it's a doddle to park (no 360 degrees but it's small and has a reversing camera), and the handling is great; it being so light in the first place makes it very nimble! No need for speed...

In the year I've had it it hasn't needed any oil, the tyres have been topped up once (it does have TPMS too), nothing's gone wrong, and it's just over 50mpg (compared to the Qashqai at 33mpg).

Drawbacks: no intermittent on the rear wiper, no auto up on the driver's window, no auto on the passenger window, no bootlight, and a few more minor matters.

And what's more the voice control button on the seating wheel actually works unlike recent Qashqais! :)
