Owner of a new 1.3 DIG-T 160 - How to break it in?

I got a new QQ on the 1st of July.

As this is my first car in a very long time, I am just wondering what do you guys advise in terms of breaking the car in? What driving practices I should take? Etc...

I am trying to keep the speed down below 70mph and the rpm below 3000.

Oups... failed!

I haven't been driving it hard, but I do sometimes try to get that Turbo going (probably went to 130km/h and 5000 rpm). Not much or too hard, anyway... But it did get there.

For how long do you plan on keeping that kind of driving?

Until I get to 1000 miles (1500 km)

I also plan to check the oil level each week for the first few months.

From page 5.2 in the manual.......

RUNNING-IN SCHEDULE

During the first 1,600 km (1,000 miles), follow these
recommendations for the future reliability and
economy of your new vehicle. Failure to follow the
recommendations may result in shortened engine
life and reduced engine performance.
• Avoid driving for long periods at a constant
speed, either fast or slow.
• Do not accelerate at full throttle in any gear.
• Avoid quick starts.
• Avoid hard braking as much as possible.
• Do not tow a trailer during the first 800 km (500
miles).
NOTE
Models with K9K diesel engine will achieve top
performance only after approximately 5,000 km
(3,000 miles).

Oh my....
I am planning to make a long, long trip (1700 km) back to my country next week. Mostly on Motorway. I can do all of those, except the long period driving....... I have a 17 hours drive ahead of me!

It's not so much the long periods, more the long periods at a constant speed. You need to vary the revs, maybe use 5th for some of it.

Just did my 1st oil top up. 5500 miles on the clock, dipstick down by 2mm.
