I am planning to buy used Qashqai, year 2015/2016.
My Qashqai registered new in June 2015 had a VIN within the affected range. At the end of the three year warranty it was fine and not using any oil. However I decided not to pay for a warranty extension and sold the car. The decision was also influenced by c.£800 of warranty work being needed at the three year service (condensor failure, new wheel owing to corrosion) and previus warranty work being required.

If I remember correctly the 1.6 diesel was only available as an automatic (a mate had one when I bought my 1.5 diesel manual)
Sorry - incorrect - here's an extract from the November 2015 brochure

You can check the car's service book, presumably a new engine will be recorded.

But, if I am not mistaken, I think I saw/read somewhere that even 1.2 engines that are not on that list also have the same problem. Or am I wrong and if the engine is not on that list I don't have to worry, everything will be OK?

Also, according to that other thread, I have to avoid CVT? Or is there also a list for CVT problem?

New engine wasn't recorded in my service book. No one would ever know they'd replaced it if I sold it.

Nice try! :)

I've looked through several and auto-only I'm afraid doesn't feature.

The 2017 ProPilot One WAS auto-only though [ EDIT - seems like it was early 2018 - see below ]

In that case the salesman was more of an a**e than I previously believed.
Didn’t know they introduced pro-pilot in 2017 - something else I learned today

The catalogue I'm looking at has two dates - both "MY17 - 05/2017" and "Prices effective from 1st April 2018" - so maybe the Pilot One wasn't available until early 2018?

EDIT

YouTube video dated 18/2/18:

I have a 65 plate Qashqai Dig-T 1.2 that I bought from an independent garage just under a year ago. In the last few months it's developed the exact same engine rattle noise present in the videos on this thread, at more or less the same RPM ranges. It had a full service a few days ago which I was hoping would resolve the issue, but despite a complete oil change and a topup of 4.3L, the rattle is just as present. Unfortunately I didn't check the oil levels before I took it for a service, which I'm regretting now.

Having read the entirety of this thread seeking some more information, I checked my VIN number against the range supplied in the Tech Bulletin a few pages back, and it matches (although it is right at the upper end, assuming the numbers are assigned sequentially I've been quite unlucky!).

At this point I'm not sure what to do - the obvious answer is to get it into a Nissan dealer and have it checked, but even if they confirm it as being an issue I'm dreading that I'll be slapped with a huge bill for an engine replacement. The car was 3 years old when I bought it so even if I'd wanted to I'd had no chance to have a full Nissan service history. I suspect the timing chain might need replacing anyway if it's the cause of the rattle, but I'd rather not do it just to have the problem come back.
