Boot opening on engine start/stop
Hi. My Qashqai (2012 model) has developed a fault with the boot lock. Whenever you either start, or stop the engine, the boot unlocks and opens. This means getting in, starting up, getting out and closing the boot again, then driving off. It’ll then open again when you stop. The boot doesn’t open whilst driving, only when the engine is turned on or off, but it does it every time. Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve tried cleaning out the lock/catch and spraying WD40 in there, but it’s not made any difference.

The only technical reference I've seen for the hatch opener system is on page 728 of the DPK document. Its a function controlled by the cars BCM (module). The opener itself is not the lock.
Th BCM prevents the hatch opener operating above the 3 mph condition.
Its not clear how the hatch opener is being operated on car start or stop though. Its clearly being signalled to open though?
The signal line to the opener would need to be monitored at stop and start times. Sorry cannot help more than that.
Note..looking on the web it appears Ford Focus has this kind of problem...which appears to be the hatch release switch?

The headlights are controlled by BCM (Body Control Module) as are the door actuators (motorised). BCM therefore needs to be tested for any specific "spurious" commands to the back door actuator. And which should not happen above about 3mph.Mitchellwheat1 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 9:09 pm My qashqai does the same but iv narrowed mine down to when the head lights turn off has anyone found a solution?
There are 2 separate Back Door Opener switches on the J10 that need to be checked as a matter of test routine I'd say. This relates to earlier posts on the problem.
