Switching to FM didn't fix it :(

I have the exact same issue! Nissan Qashqai 2014. Took it to Nissan last week for diagnostic and software upgrade, £120 for the pleasure and still broken. Quoted £650 to recondition my audio unit or £3300 for a new one.
Went back to Nissan today and was told on Mon 1st April 2019, they got an email from Nissan ADMITTING the issue is theirs. Admitted there is a signal interfering from Dover and it's mucking up the whole units. They are currently testing different radios and when they have a fix , will email the dealers. They will not do a recall and write to the owners. I was told to call them every 2x weeks to see if the fix is ready, if so they will fix it for free. My dealer said he refused to book mine in for repair and I should wait for the fix!!!

If there is interference of serious severity then OFCOM would by now be aware of it. And likely killed it I suspect. The complaint goes in here:

I also have audio cutout problems with my audio system. (Tekna 2014 reg)

It seems to affect all audio sources and lasts for just over 20 seconds. The problems initially showed up about a year ago and I spent some time trying to analyse them. My initial thoughts were that it was a bad joint, but as the no audio time period is so consistent I now believe it is a firmware issue.

I started discussing this with my local dealer about 6 months ago but was getting nowhere.

Often it does not show up during the first drive of a day, but other times it may happen twice on a 10 mile trip. There have been times where is shows 8 or more times during a 5 mile trip, often resulting in the radio re-booting and then it behaves for a short time. Interestingly when FM radio is used the audio cutoffs seem far less frequent.
It affects all audio sources including bluetooth phone calls, and always lasts the same time.

I am pleased I am not alone with this and do hope that Nissan put their hands up to the problem. The fact so many others are having the same issue with no resolution is affecting my confidence in them as a car manufacturer.

10/6/19 UPDATE My dealer yesterday told me that they are getting a number of reported radio problems every week and suggested I should contact Nissan Customer Support. They were very helpful and knew of the problem, offering a temporary fix, to be followed by a permanent fix which is under test.

Having same problem with mine
Rang Nissan who said bring it in for system update
Garage sent me video footage saying that there is an internal fault and they would need to send it away
Then Got a call from them saying latest update was already on there and if they send it away they would only update the system so there is no point so on this occasion they can’t help me...I’ve only had the car a month!

If that occurred in 30 days after purchase they should either repair or replace it...not "can't help"

I paid my dealer(Evans Halshaw Sunderland) a visit today to discuss the issue of the radio cutting out and the connect system re-booting itself. It requires a firmware update, but as it's out of warranty it will cost me £75. Going to give Nissan CS a call.

Its a legacy fault due to the manufacturer/suppliers design and implementation...in the first place. Remind Nissan HQ if they forget...the fault is common across the vehicle range pre 2017. They got it right on production after that....we hope!
