Ha! Just came onto the forum to post this!

Is it a surprise that emissions are exceeded during regeneration? Isn't it inevitable? Why has this suddenly arisen?

It said the particulate pollution spikes to 1,000 times the normal level during the regular process of diesel cars clearing their anti-pollution filters.

DPFs are a legal requirement for diesel cars and are designed to capture the harmful emissions, including nitrogen oxides and particulate matter, produced by their engines.

The build up of these particles can clog up the filters, which are designed to clean themselves if this because the case.

Motorists who mostly drive short distances in town and low speeds are recommended to take their cars onto faster roads so the DPF can actively clear itself.

This tends to result in a big puff of black smoke from the exhaust, as the devices coughs out the emissions it has collected during previous journeys.

Here's something else from T&E. Recharge EU. Now think of the HS2 blowout (time and money).

"Finally, the supply of charging infrastructure in cities should be assessed in the light of
the need to reduce the dependency on private cars.
We need a transition towards fewer vehicles in urban areas so we need to prioritise the deployment of charging solutions for a growing fleet of shared cars, electric taxis and ride hailing services, as well as delivery electric trucks and vans. The latter might require significant investment to upgrade the grid at some locations which the EU and national funds should help with".
