Hi,

I have an android head unit, works absolutely fine apart from one thing. The darn steering wheel controls.

The canbus is a 'Raise' unit and the head unit decoder is setup to read a raise Qashqai decoder. My suspicion however is around the Key 1 / 2 wires, I've tried to have a go at following the diagrams on the unit, however I need some advice from the folk in the know.

As anyone else had success in rigging in an android head unit and setting up the steering controls? How did you manage to do it?

Any help or pointers are much appreciated.

Andy

Any chance of a deeper explanation by any chance ? Are you looking for the vehicles can high and low to the original unit so you can rig them into the android unit or have I got it wrong? Haha I can help out with locating them if you do need them

Yes, so on the steering wheel we've call answer and reject on the right hand side and on the left previous and next track along with the volume up and down. The head unit as come with a van bus thats plugged in to the loom provided, all connections are plugged in according to the limited documentation they supply with these things, head unit works fine, however communication between steering and unit is not happening. Only thing I can put it down to is the two wires they call Key 1 and Key 2. I've plugged into a couple of ports and gave it a go based on the images the unit has in its manual (pics attached). However has restrained from any more fiddling for the moment before I fuse it or something.

Key1 and 2 are normally not used since the Canbus-box should handle the SWC. One thing you could check is that the correct car is selected in the factory settings for the Can-bus. If you don't know ask the seller for the password.

I don’t know this particular android unit and fitting one on a Qashqai, but have done on my previous car. But as well checking you have the right Can Bus Manufacturer and Model, then you may also need to check the SWC App (steering wheel Control) in android that is normally found in Car Settings of the head unit, as it might be that you have learn the buttons.

Thanks all so far, yes checked the decoder against the can bus make and selected the correct car type. When we go on to learn the steering settings it always fails as if it is not picking up an input through.

You need a new Can-bus box.

They have sent you the wrong CanBus-box. This box is for the earlier models. Look above, this guy had the same problem and the same wrong box.
