Qashqai Model: Mk.2 Qashqai - J11 (2013–2017)

Hi All,
Please bare with me as I’m new to this forum & realise this issue has probably been raised 100’s of times before.
Our 2016 J11 has been in to our local garage this week for an annual service & some repairs.
All was good apart from the Aircon issue. Apparently there was no gas in the system. They were unable to Regass it as the condenser/radiator has a leak. A common fault by the look of it ??
They have quoted approximately £400 to repair. It seems a lot to me.
I would be grateful for any further information on your experience with this issue.

Many Thanks

Smiley, Welcome to the Forum., but unfortunately the problem you have is Big. Please take a look at the Post attached which is very long but should get you up to speed on how big the problem was and is. You could try pushing your Dealer if out of Guarantee as this is a Major Nissan problem
If you look in “Search” you will find more - Dave 😉

Unfortunately you've hit upon one of the most common Qashqai faults. Mine fortunately failed just before I was having the third service and hence it was replaced under warranty. The price you've been quoted sounds about right - remember the car has the newer very expensive AC fluid so that's a significant chunk of that cost.

Just an update on my AC issue. Yesterday I had the failed condenser replaced by a company advertising the J11 condenser replacement on EBAY. He (Coolcon Ltd) quoted £280 & stuck to that price to. A very knowledgeable & friendly chap. The condenser also has a 2 year warranty on it. I can’t recommend this Fella enough. I dropped the car off at 9:30 & had a call at 1 o’clock to say it was ready. Interesting though, he showed me the old condenser & explained that mine leaked in the normal area of other Qashqai’s & there was no physical damage apparent, so obviously is a manufacturing fault with them as previously discussed. Happy now to have icy cold Aircon again.

Significantly the danger always is that the dealer will replace the unit with old (new) stock that harbours the same weakness. Fortunately there are some really good people in the trade.

According to his website, the guy recognises that Qashqai Facelift (J11) has an inherent fault with its condenser. The guy removes the fault one and replaces it with the condenser supplied by Autoair. Not sure about the quality of Autoair condensers, but the guy's opinion is that they are a better quality than that fitted by Nissan.
