Hi,I own a 2008 Nissan Qashqai Tekna and recently the air bag light is flashing, I've done the reset trick with the ignition.A diag of the error code on my mates snap on diag tool says air bag module open.I've read posts about the ring cable being faulty but not sure.... does anyone know if this would be covered under the warranty or does any one have an idea what the fault might be.Regards,Dave.

2008 won't be warranty ...2018 will be.

If a fault exists its not a good thing for DIY fixing.

Welcome to this forum.

What warranty do you have?

Hi,

I put this post back in 2015 but I no longer have that car.

From memory I think in the end I had to have the spinnacle replaced - I think that’s what it’s called.

Regards,

Dave.

Had the samei issue with My Quashqai , main suspect is the connecting ring below the steering wheel (forgotten the proper name think its a squab) It's a simple replacement and the rings are pretty cheap, UNLESS you have the fully loaded models , as i have!! After a hunt around i found one at a scrap yard in Ireland for £70!! good point is that ,unknown to me then, once everything was connected , the Cruise and speed limiter also started working, not that either are any use in the UK, but it's there if needed. PS these are a known fault ,mainly because of the cheap thin wire the French manufacturers insist on using in their cars.

Same issue on my Mk1 1.5 dti. Main suspect is the squab under the steering wheel , cheap replacement on most models , UNLESS yours is a fully loaded model with controls on wheel, Nissan wanted an obscene amount for a new one so sourced one in ireland, Simple replacement , note , be careful removing the air bag , and everything , including speed limiter and cruise control all working. It's a known fault on the car , French electrics are a big drawback on these .
