Hi

Further to my other post about problems (aren't I eager to cause more problems before fixing my others :D)

In the Service Menu I noticed that there is a parmater listed for the BOSE amplifier. Now, I don't have one of those so it's empty. But it got me thinking... does this imply NC3 is looking for the amplifier?

I've been keen to improve the audio in the car... I just also don't really want to make changes too far out of line with the car's original specification.

Can I just plug things in and it'll work? Do Nissan provide any retrofit workshop guides? Anybody got any links to other people that have done/attempted/investigated this? I've had a bit of a search very little results found.

I have the Bose equipment fitted to my car and to be frank, I can't say that it's particularly good.
Additionally the bulky sub-woofer sits where you would want your spare wheel to live.
I have mine wedged into the spare wheel - maybe that's why it's not noticeably better than the standard set up.
The Memsahib had it in her Micra and now has it in her Leaf - again, we can't discern a noticeable improvement.
That said, we're both in our mid-60's so maybe it's us !!!

Interesting... I don't actually carry a spare wheel since the car came with a space saving foam kit instead (though, I'd wait in the warm for the RAC rather than waste my time with that usless set)

Trying to get my head around what I actually need to use the BOSE sub in the back. Definitely need a sub and an amp, but not sure where the amp goes, and not sure if I need any additional wiring, nor whether I need to upgrade the door speakers or whether that can wait....

I've no idea what music you listen to... but my American country music definitely caps out at the speakers, and the head unit is struggling to get it to any volume without distortion, hence the consideration of an amp...

I drive too far too often to dare not to have a spare wheel.
And I have had three blow outs over the years I’ve been driving.

If you look at those threads, you can see what the sub-woofer looks like and its size.
No idea what is in that case, though.
I have Bose speakers in the doors.
Music - Classical, RnB, Disco, Pop, Tamla, Rock - very eclectic
I pushed the volume really high on the motorway drive home this afternoon - didn’t notice any distortion.

I can only echo the above , having owned 3 Qashqai.
My latest is a Bose equipped car , and it might sound a little crisper - but I wouldnt pay a premium for it if it were an option.

I too carry a spare wheel , and the sub actually sat in a totally different polystyrene nest in the boot floor to that of the standard car.

I just unplugged the sub and left in the garage as I hate rattles from loose parts

The Posts that Mike has added have a load of facts if interested in Both the Spare Wheel & Bose System. I am no specialist regarding Music but our System is adequate and meets our needs. I use the iPhone, iPod, USB Sticks, CD’s and am satisfied with what comes out, but people have different opinions which is normal.
I would never use the Gunk supplied for Tyre Problems so I transferred our 16” Spare from our J11A to the J11B. It was more complex with the Bose Sub-Woofer sitting there, but eventually installed it after a few mods - Dave 😉
