I've had my 2016 n connecta 1.5 diesel for 12 months and can't ever recall it stop starting. I'm asking because I was told today that I need a new battery and the Nissan one fitted apparently doesn't have the usual symbols on it for stop start. A stop start battery is twice the price of a normal battery. Is there any way I can quickly check before I commit to the expensive one. Thanks.

If I remember correctly every QQ has stop/start fitted, it’s part of the "eco-credentials" of the car. My 2017 diesel QQ qualified for £0 road fund license in part due to the stop/start system.
It’s a very quirky system which has lots of strange parameters to fulfil.

Someone more technically mind might be along to confirm/deny the above !

Take a look at the right hand side of the dash board, somewhere around where your right knee might be - mine has a button there to disable the stop/start system.

Plumbob, take a look at this and see if it helps you. Our 2014 QQ Tekna very rarely operated with the older FIAMM and later exchanged Nissan Batteries. Our New QQ has a Varta Battery and for 14 months it has not missed a beat, so it is often turned off - Dave 🤗

Found it. It does have stop start. £140 for a new battery, ouch. Thanks for the info.

That's cheaper than some others have paid.

Hi MikeGC , how did you get £0 road fund licens? I have a 17 plate Qashqai 1.6 dCi Tenka 5 door hatchback with stop start and I have to pay road fund licence, I like to switch stop/start off, pull up at lights and as soon as car stops, lights change, don't cars use more fuel starting? up so no real co2 savings

£0 road fund licence applied to the 1.5 diesel - until they stopped it on 31 March 2017.

Not sure what I can tell you.
I didn’t have to pay and road fund license during the time I had my 2017 1.5 (2.5years) and it was pointed out to me by the saleswoman as a real positive.
Could it be different iterations in the engine series ?
Was that 2017 1.5 a new and updates version ?
Was pairing it to a manual box the crucial factor (assuming yours is/was an auto) ?

I'm afraid I haven’t read up the science behind the reasoning, so can’t comment on the environmental benefits

This is from the 2016 brochure

Wheel size makes a difference since wider tyres increase the resistance and hence emissions.

Then in 2017 the tax structure changed hence all versions started paying:
