Hey everyone,

I have a 67 plate 1.2 Dig tekna petrol J11 QQ. I have been noticing something really strange and looking for some help.

1) intermittently: My rear lights (brake lights) will dim up and down in?

2) Permanent-ish: When I turn in my AC , the blower noise (the whooshing sound you hear) will go up and down in decibel, as if it was a volume control knob and you were fading music in and out (hopefully explains it)

3) intermittently: The lights dimming and the AC blower noise dimming will dim together in the same pattern / rhythm.

Not sure what it could be, any help appreciated.

I'd have to say thats a power control system problem. Much of the car is managed by the IPDM (power distribution unit). Its difficult to speculate really and needs an auto electrician to check it.

Both the A/C Fan system and Stop lights derive power from two different control units. So the power to those two units need to be checked. This does include the integrity of the related car ground connection(s).

Out of interest how do you know your brake lights are changing in brightness?

The fan will adjust its speed depending on the heating need?
