Just wondering if anyone else knows of this as a common issue. I’ve been experiencing shaking through the steering under braking and then noticed grinding sounds from the rear brakes. On inspection of the brakes I found the pad has not been contacting all of the disc, half disc clean, half rusty.

Time to change discs and pads…

I start on the noisy side and find the lower slider bolt has snapped!! That explains the uneven disc/pad contact. So I buy a new pair of caliper carriers and slider kits, best to just refresh both sides I guess.

Second side I find the same, another snapped slider!!

Seems strange and concerning that both rear brakes have had this breakage. Think I’ll be inspecting the front ones too.

It looks similar to the J10. I think on the T30 X-Trail it is recommended to change the slider bolts. One problem is that some places do not use rubber grease , or any. This then causes problems with the breaking and can lead to seized pistons as well as uneven braking.

Yes, it is the J10 facelift. Well at least I know it’s done right this time. I guess I’d better strip the fronts down and check them over too.
The main issue with parts was the carrier, none of the usual spare places held this even though they held every other part of the brakes, so i had to get them delivered. Cheers.

If the rears were like that I would also check the front out. Make sure you put red rubber grease or equivalent rubber grease when re-assembling them.
