Qashqai Model: Mk.3 Qashqai - J12 (2021+) New Model

Post by xavpiq »

Hi, driving on a motorway this morning I came across the problem the spanish QQ forum is so worried about (https://www.foroclub.es/nissan-qashqai/ ... =2&t=15656).
At a speed of 81 mph, if you suddenly release the gas pedal and decelerate you hear a whistling noise coming from the transmission presumably. The problem affects manual transmissions only. Not pleasant to hear ...

Initial query in November last year:

Hello, I have the new Nissan Qashqai 2021 and on the highway after 120 - 130 km, it begins to enter like a whistle inside the car, it is not constant, the sound comes and goes, it seems as if it were from the outside air, the truth is that It gets a bit annoying, does anyone else happen to it??? Thanks.
All the best

Long topic! Didn't read it all...

The national speed limit on Spanish motorways is 120km/h (75 mph).

By the way, 81 mph (130 km/h) is the italian speed limit on motorways.

One notable comment translates to...

"They tell me from the workshop that the whistle is because of hybridization, and that it's normal…".

Do you have a hybrid? If you do, the whistle could be regeneration on braking and deceleration.

I also think this could be the origin of the whistle, but ... why can you hear it only from above 80 mph?

All J12s are hybrid.

Didn't know that, :)

As regards the decelleration for 80mph, I would imagine that was fairly high revs which would take some time to diminish, as opposed to gear changes which are fairly quick and you may miss the same noise.
