Hello.
I am hoping that someone might be able to help me with identifying something that I spotted on my 2012 Nissan Qashqai Tekna 1.6 DCI (J10 Facelift). I have noticed that 2 of my glow plugs have a black tar like substance leaking out of them at the base where they enter the engine. One has a small amount of the gooey oil like substance and the other has a bit more. There is nothing leaking from above, so it appears that the substance is coming out of the bottom on the glow plugs.
I first spotted this a few weeks ago but it seems to be increasingly leaking. Once the engine cools the black stuff hardens and appears to be like a carbon type substance that crumbles when crushed.
I bought this car from a trader 2 months ago and it has 77k miles on the clock. The car runs very well, and no dashboard lights have flashed up since I have owned it.
Is this a big issue? Can it be left, or does it need fixing? If so, what can be done to sort it and most importantly will it be expensive?
Photos provided.
Many Thanks,
Black tar like substance leaking from 2 glow plugs

I can’t help, sorry
My "go to" response would be to get it back to the dealer before your warranty expires.

When I bought the car I started to use some Redex diesel injector cleaner so am wondering whether this has shifted / dissolved some carbon inside the engine and maybe is trying to find its way out of the engine.
