oh yes. so you got the bolts from nissan but you still don`t want to pop them on the car as you think there wrong. i would go to a scrapyard and grab what you need from there. job done.

Indeed, I got the bolts from Nissan. Dealers are not immune to supplying the wrong parts though and as the task of even getting them to understand the parts I wanted seemed to be beyond their scope initially, I was sceptical seeing as none of the part numbers matched the the information I was given.

If you dont understand that not all bolts, nuts or whatever are equal, maybe read up on it?

The 'wrong' bolt was put on by the garage, but I didn't know that. I'm sure its fine, but now I've come to do the control arm again after less than 12k miles, I want it done correctly.

That means the correct tensile strength bolt AND nut. Not ones from a scrapyard or Lidls.

I'm sure that certain types see no problem in scavenging safety critical parts from scrapyards, but I don't do that.

Any number on a bolt is its tensile strength

That's what I thought but Nissan told me otherwise.

The other bolt on the other side has 10 on it also, so at least that matches. I'll fit them, but was no left with the feeling that any Nissan dealers knew what I wanted or what the part did.

Considering the application of the bolt , and the forces acting upon it , I would be happy with it

Its not that Im not happy with it, but as the part number differed from what I was told and Nissan had no real grasp of what the bolt was for, I was cautious about using it.

It is not made by LIDL and by other companies. I would rather use it than the nut you were given by Nissan. The whole point of the nyloc bit is to stop it unwinding. Even if there was no bolt there, the worst that would happen is excessive noise and clatter from the arm moving up and down.

Lidl dont make nuts of course, but the point is that any fastener to be used in certain applications needs to be of a certain standard/strength. A general purpose DIY nut is not likely to conform.

The nut Nissan have supplied is a lock nut, it has a flange on the top that performs this function.

Not sure what you mean by " if there was no bolt there, the worst that would happen is excessive noise and clatter from the arm moving up and down".

Are you serious?
