How long should the master warning light (the orange triangle with an exclamation mark) stay on after starting up, seat belts buckled up, doors all shut as on our car it stays on for probably 20 to 30 seconds with the diagrammatic plan of the car in the VID showing as well. Is this indicative of something expensive going to happen, or might it be that the previous owner fitted a Halfrauds battery of a lower amperage (62aH) and CCA (550) than I would like to see on a diesel with a lot of electrical equipment? I understand that Halfrauds batteries are made by Yuasa but I usually fit Varta Silver to my cars.

I've had no problems at all with Yuasa batteries in the past - admittedly on bikes.

For your car the Halfords battery configurator shows three possibilities:

62Ah - 550CCA (Halfords)

65Ah - 640CCA (Yuasa)

80Ah - 740CCA (Yuasa) (this one's bigger and may not fit without modification?)

The design of the Halfords one certainly looks similar to the Yuasa one (slightly different at the base)

For your car the Eurocarparts battery configurator shows three possibilities:

62Ah - 480CCA

70Ah - 640CCA

70Ah - 720CCA

All a bit of a lottery really...

The top one (Halfords HCB13) is the one fitted to my car....I always buy my car batteries from Tayna batteries in Wales - far cheaper than Halfords or Euro Car parts - delivered next day fully charged. When you click on the technical data sheet for the battery on Halfords website it links to a Yuasa document!
