Given this unit is same power, car is generally lighter (?) lighter bonnet etc. Also newer tech, it’s not great really. Also noticeably not as nippy as the 1.6 petrol, although as per my other topic it’s v sluggish off the line whereas the older one seemed much more perky.

I’m getting about 33-36 round town, had up to 45 on a 10 mile run. 5-10 mpg worse than my old car currently. But have only done 220 miles so far

I'm still a believer that bigger engines don't have to work so hard which in turn give better fuel economy. So is moving to small petrol engines actually better for the environment or not?

But the results you are all giving across are not as bad as I expected tbh. It is a big lump of a car

Yes agree, used to get a bit more mpg from my 205 1.9 than the 1.6 due to mainly being at lower revs. Extreme comparison maybe but there is weight to it.

Maybe I am just not used to using so much fuel coming from a diesel.

I rarely have air con on but, my last qashqai I was told you need to keep using it at least once a month as otherwise it faults it. Not entirely sure how true that it…

I drove a bit further today and I got 43mpg so not too bad I guess.

I also put super unleaded in and I don’t think it made a different cento me using normal unleaded this time round.

I’ll use it at least once a month just to clean the fuel lines and injectors tbf

43mpg? I'd be very happy at that, hopefully it will get better.
Yes that's true about aircon. If u don't circulate a bacteria will build up and give a nasty wiff!

AC also needs to be run periodically so that the lubricant in the fluid lubricates the seals.

Mines isn’t amazing but it is improving. To be fair only been doing short runs. School runs or back and forward to the hospital for work.
I have commented on how much petrol it takes compared to my last car.

I noticed there are a couple of new ECO settings featured in the J12 system settings, one of which relates to the Climate Control. The default setting for all 3 is ON. Whether these improve fuel economy or not is another matter? ;)

I think I read in the manual that the eco cruise control accelerates less until is reaches the selected distance from the car you are following again... but don't quote me on that... I'm still trying to soak up 530 pages of info!!

Because delivery of mine was delayed, the dealer has offered me an hour with the demo car next week. I know how to reset the trip computer now so I will check out the mpg in different driving conditions

Not very good so far!

My teckna+ auto is averaging 32mpg after 500 miles whereas my old equivalent spec Qashqai was doing 38mpg and the journeys have been the same.

Maybe it will get better as it loosens up? I won't be very happy if it doesn't!

Short review so far:

Good: Much more comfortable, better driving position, more and better gizmos, much better ride, even quieter

Bad: Less sporty feel, throttle response delay, tailgate warning beeper so loud it wakes up all the neighbours!

Overall: Great car, much better than the old (apart from mpg?)
Current car: 2021 Qashqai Tekna+ DIG-T MHEV CVT
Previous car: 2019 Qashqai Tekna+ 1.3 DIG-T 160 DCT
