Qashqai Model: Mk.3 Qashqai - J12 (2021+) New Model

Post by luke0586 »

Hi all,

I have a 2016 1.6 diesel auto N-Connecta and according to the trip computer I'm only getting around 40/455mpg, if I'm being really carful I can get 50mpg on a run!

I was expecting more as according to Total Car Check it states:
Urban: 50.4 MPG
Extra-Urban: 61.4 MPG
Combined: 67.6 MPG

I drove my father-in-law's Mokka the other day; similar age and engine specs and I managed to get 60mpg!

Is this usual what is expected for the Qashqai's or should I be looking into issues and maintenance etc?

Looking at the service book it was last serviced in June 2021 at 35,564 and has now done around 45,000. but bearing in mind it was sitting on the forecourt for a while due to the COVID-19 pandemic for quite a number of months.

Thanks In advance.

Well I was only getting 34mpg out of my 1.2 petrol version.

The 2016 brochure suggests the following for your car:

Urban - 50.4mpg
Extra-urban - 61.4mpg
Combined - 57.6mpg
[you have a typo]

... but these are on the older discredited scale of consumption assessment which always produced high results. My 1.2 was supposed to get 48.7mpg combined on that method!

The equivalent car to yours in 2019 on the new system of measurement - and with a 1.7 diesel - only achieved a combined figure of 50.1mpg for the manual version. There wasn't an auto in 2WD form - the 4WD version achieved 46.7mpg for the manual and only 41.2mpg for the auto - a significant penalty for the latter. That would imply around 45mpg if there was a 2WD auto.

So maybe you're getting what's expected?

Don't rely on the in-build computer either although it's admittedly much more close to reality than some.

By the way your right-hand signature is showing the wrong car, and it's useful to put a fuller description in your bottom signature for technical queries.

I ran a 66 plate 1.5 Diesel N Connector for 3 years , and 75000 miles.
Same journey almost every day with a mix of A road and motorway.
I always showed approx 54mpg on trip 2
I also noted that I could get brilliant mpg around town , but suffered at 70 or 80mph.

Im now in the latest J11B 1.3 petrol version with 140bhp and regularly see 48mpg on trip 2 on the same journey.

Respectfully , you might be driving quite hard ?
Thats not meant to be an insult , but when I pushed mine harder on the motorway - the mpg always suffered.

Also , dont forget , in cold weather , your mpg will drop regardless of manufacturer.

Cruise at 65mph on the motorways for good results and ensure tyre pressures are correct πŸ‘

I have the 1.6 diesel auto, but the Accenta Premium, not that should make any difference to engine performance :D My trip says I am averaging 39mpg, best I have gotten is 61mpg but that was on a run. I ignore the fuel figures issued by manufacturers, they are laboratory conditions and not the real thing, hence the problems that now beset all manufacturers fiddling their figures and the lawyers trying to do their bit and sign you up for compensation. At the end of the day, it does depends entirely on the weight of your right foot when advancing and also the over use of your left foot when slowing down. I don't think these laboratory figures include braking and the adverse effect that has on fuel consumption.
