Just some help and advice please, had a Qashqui for previous 8 years, traded it in for a nearly new Qashqui 1-3 n-connecta 20 reg (last dec 2021), did have a small test drive like you do before buying BUT I have 2 questions/queries that I am open to views on.

1) I feel that the clutch is very stiff (compared to old model) and is that bad after town driving that it hurts my left foot especially big toe, never had this problem before as 68 year old 16 stone and size 13 shoe, also let the wife have a drive and she says can't drive the car with that stiff clutch, so I am wondering if any thing can be done to clutch to make it softer when pressing down on it, also feels like when pressing it down you are forcing it against something as you can feel like its against springs or something (not smooth), also on looking at the clutch it sits higher than break pedal, so If the tention can be released a little bit that would be fantasic, but not knowing much about the tec side of cars that this can be done, or would a new clutch be better?

2) when driving say above 60 mph I have noticed that there is a bit of play in steering wheel, say driving down motor way at 70 mph in a straight line, you have to keep turning the steering wheel to the left and then right to keep in straight line, with my last Qashqui steering was perfect.

I would be open to any advice from you because I don't want to look a fool if I call in at car service reception and these above points are the norm.

many thanks

I would recommend testing another.
My 2017 n-connecta had a light clutch and the steering was positive.
My 2019 Tekna is an auto and wonderful, again the steering is exactly what you would expect.

All my Qashqai have had a good clutch feel.
Straight line stability without strong winds is very good. In fact I would say the cars are quite forgiving.

A heavy clutch would be one of a few things.
1. Master cylinder
2.Slave cylinder
3.Clutch faulty as its self adjusting
4.worn clutch.

Steering could be

1. tyre pressures
2.wheel alignment
3.tyre mix
4.worn steering components
5.damaged components

You do not mention the mileage of the car

Yes - really needs a back-to-back comparison with another one or two with the same engine and transmission.
