Brake problem

Hello all
Qashqai 1.5dci J10 minor facelift 2010

The issue is a sinking brake pedal, to the floor which improves with a couple of pumps, then sinks again.

My first thoughts were master cylinder so I have replaced that with one from a breaker, and fully bled through the system. It’s still the same.
Now I appreciate that a used master cylinder COULD be faulty and have the same issue, BUT is there anything I’m missing here?

Pedal stiffens when the engine is not running and drops on starting the engine as it should. However if pressure held on when not running it sinks the same as when running.

Any ideas or thoughts welcome.

Welcome to this forum.

I had the same problem on the first of my Fabias - the dealer said "They all do that!" - I couldn't prove otherwise and technically I can't answer sorry.

It could well be the barke fluid is well past it's sell by date and needs changing. Over time the brake fluid detereoates and needs to be replaced. This is usually done at major services I think. But certainly every couple of years.

When the Master Cylinder was replaced , then I guess you bled the system with new fluid.
A few Questions.

What order did you bleed the system
Did you push the fluid out or suck it out
Did you bleed by pumping the brake pedal
Did the ABS pump get activated to ensure no air was trapped in the valve bank
