Qashqai Model: Mk.3 Qashqai - J12 (2021+) New Model

Post by Jamiemp »

Hello,

Has anyone had any success modifying or swapping headlight parts to comply with the left hand drive standards? I’m close to moving abroad, wanting to take my car but will need to physically alter the headlights, will never pass a foreign MOT on UK spec or with those cruddy stickers.

Any tips appreciated, or any places to start. Don’t want to talk to dealers if possible.

Cheers.

Which J12 model have you got? Does the tech pack with the LED and adaptive beam mean you wouldn't need to change the headlights?

Its about the lens pattern (targeted light dispersal). Check the headlamps and note the fixed lens with the plastic body. Not changeable.

Its a complete new lamp body for LHD AFAIK and extremely expensive.

Yes I think you're right for the older lights. But I thought the new J12 LED on the higher spec models were suitable for either LHD or RHD as no beam convertors needed. The electronics works it out. You just set LHD or RHD in the settings.

Hello,

This may be a tad more specific than I was hoping (Was expecting contacts or places to go etc) As a curve ball, I actually own a newer model pulsar not a Qashqai, but the forums there are very quiet, so came here for more reference/experience.

It’s 2016 model, there are zero LEDs or electronic adjustments for reference. I don’t know if there is any mechanical adjustment or it’s just pay a load for new parts.

I did wonder...

Check the handbook.

I am in the same boat we have a 2012 acenta j10 Right hand drive on English plates we were in the process of putting it onto Spanish plates is converting these headlights for driving and passing it’s ITV/MOT. Is this something I could do myself I do know of garages in Spain who can do this I am not sure of the cost.

Is it possible to try and source replacement headlight units from France, Portugal, Spain, etc, etc or wherever you are moving to ?
