Hello, I changed my batteries in my keyfob & now i cant use the fob to lock/unlock my car. I have to use the physical key (from the fob) to unlock the door & then hold the fob to the start/stop push button to start the car.
I then put new batteries in the spare fob i have (but have never used even though the car is an 18 plate. The same thing that has happened as the original fob.
I have checked the Nissan hand book & looked at the tutorials on YouTube etc.
I went to the local Nissan dealer (where i had brought the car new), they said they could help me but they would charge me £138 an hour to sort it.
Can anybody help me with this problem?
Cheers,
Dave

Welcome to the forum.

I understood that changing the battery in the key fob was completely straightforward.
I hear that the battery needs to be absolutely first class (Duracell, etc.)

Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable will be able to suggest something I have forgotten

You may find an auto electrician better bet; here's one I recommend, but only operates in Thames Valley 8-)

Check the batteries don't have a film on one or both surfaces

Definitely buy top end batteries. check you have them right way up...

Thanks Mike,
Apparently it is meant to be straightforward. But its not for me :)
The batteries are Duracell.

Welcome to this forum.

Just to clarify, you can't open the door by either pressing the button on the handle or pressing the button on the remote?

And you're sure the + is down?

I can't recall a key being completely disabled before.

The rate is to a certain extent irrelevant. Assuming they know how to reprogram the key, they should know how long it takes. From looking at the videos on YouTube, it appears it could be done in around ten minutes assuming one has the device that's plugged into the OBD port.

10 minutes = £23 - much more palatable.
