Hi folks,
A bit further on but still a long way off from getting car back.
Nissan have agreed to cover 100% of costs of new engine.
Going to be off the road for at least another 6-8 weeks as some parts on back order as same engine not available but the updated version.
Just received a courtesy car from Nissan UK as dealer didn’t have any available.
If any of you have legal protection added with your insurance doesn’t need to be car but also can be house insurance well that’s the way to go.
I contacted them and gave me advice on what to say / request in emails but basically under consumer rights act 2015 is where you are protected if out of warranty.

I wonder what happens to all the old stock thermostats, do they scrap them all or still sell them from stock? I mean if I went to buy one tomorrow how would I know if I was getting an upgraded one or an old stock item?

Hi all, just found this forum and post... We have had the same issue on a 2019 Qashqai (44000 miles). The thermostatic housing has completely separated at the glued joint and lost all of the coolant. We didn't get any warning lights but the temp gauge hit the red and the car went into limp mode. RAC have just replaced it this morning using a Nissan original part. I'm now worried the engine is damaged after reading about Mal82's experience. I've mesaaged the RAC mechanic to bring the faulty part back just in case we need to make a claim.

Finally managed to get the Qashqai into the local dealership after a 4 week wait for an appointment and was told that they already had 2 on site with exactly the same issue. Can't believe that this is not a bigger problem than those who have posted on here. Waiting for the outcome of their inspection but not given too much hope of a positive response from Nissan in the dealership's opinion. Would appreciate any feedback from anyone who has had a response, positive or negative.

This just happened to my wifes car last week
Ireland based and Nissan have offered to cover half of the base engine cost.
I am intrigued to see Nissan UK have covered full cost.
Did other people on here get this too? Full Cost of engine covered not 50%

Am wondering if there is any prior indication that its about to let go, or its fine one moment then not the next?
