Welcome to the forum

I haven’t experienced this problem but I tend to have cover 9,000-10,000 per year in each of my three Qashqais.

It seems from previous reports that the RAC have quite specific guidelines to follow, before condemning a battery.

If your independent tester is happy to diagnose a failing battery and you feel he/she is trustworthy then why not have a new battery fitted ?

.
It suggests that someone is trying to save money on a warranty or someone is trying to sell you a battery you don’t need. If you know and have used your independent for years, then I guess you know who to trust.

Do you have a written warranty from the RAC ?
If so what are the exclusions like ?
or
Do you have written testing results from your independent ?
If so, perhaps you can scan them and e-mail to the RAC Warranty office and ask them for resolution.

You won't necessarily have a problem starting the car if the battery has cell faults. I had my battery replaced at a service by Nissan, as they found a cell was faulty and replaced under warranty. I wasn't experiencing any problems with the car except the stop/start system didn't cut in very often when the car was warmed up and should have (I know there are many things that need to be met before the system cuts in). Ever since the battery has been replaced, the stop/start works extremely frequently to the point I turn it off during travel in heavy stopstart traffic.
