Car won't start for 15 minutes

Hi everyone

I've had a Qashqai for a while with no issues but just got an older one to run around in and I'm having a major issue.

I bought the car like this and it's just been sitting around since! It's a 2011 Nissan Qashqai.

The car locks and unlocks fine using the remote, I attempted to start the car and the red immobiliser light stays on and it won't even turn over. If I wait for exactly 15 minutes the light will got out and the car will start.

I've called an auto locksmith this morning and he said that t doesn't sound like a key programming issue but can't take a look for a couple of weeks.

It looks to me like an immobiliser/key issue but I can't explain why it would start after 15 minutes.

Any ideas?

I found a video online with what seemed like the same issue and contacted the user but they couldn't remember what it was only that they had to take it to Nissan to get coded. He's not sure what got coded but said only Nissan could do it.

I'd rather avoid Nissan if possible due to the costs these main dealers charge (be worth more than the car).

Get the batt checked out if still original batt then its time to replace as over 10yrs old now 😬

I’ll swap the battery with another just incase as I’m not sure how long it’s been in there.

Car starts fine though when the light is out

when did the car last have a full service, oil filters etc ?

I couldn't tell you. I plan to do this once this is sorted. Do you think that would cause the issue?

I would get it all serviced. New glo-plugs to for the age of the car. And fuel filter replaced

I also have a quashkai with same issue! Did you fix yours?!
