Good to have a update on how your getting on. Yes gone are the days when dropping something in the engine bay and it would just go straight onto the floor.

Quick update I still have the same problems aswell as another problem. Car still starts horrible when cold but has improved slightly. Still sounds like a tractor after about 5min it's fine.

I got my battery checked at halfords and on his little handheld computer my battery was 70% good. I told him about my start-up issue and he said maybe it could be the glow plug relay module if you have already changed the glow plugs.

I got my battery checked from kwik fit as you can see the from uploaded image battery health is okay.

The other problem I have now is I can hear a slight knocking noise from the offside wheel. This car passed it's mot 4 weeks ago without any advisories and recently had a 52 point service and none of them has mentioned anything bad to do with my suspension.

I have rechecked the fuel filter I changed recently and that seems secure I have checked the hoses I discconected. I recently got the wheels refurbished so I am not sure what the issue is.

The guy at Halford said alot of garages miss the subframe bushes which is a common problem for these vehicles. He also said he gets about 4 or 5 qashqai a day with the same issues. There was one in the garage a 2014plate which requires £4500 of repairs and done 83k on the clock.

To be fair I wish I never got one, because in the early mornings I am waking my neighbours with the early starts and it seems this car is going to cost me a lot of money.

What would you advice next? Change the glow plug relay module?

batt will last you at least another yr i`s say, glow plug heater can be seen here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/285498930169 just so you know what your looking for. has your engine got a cover on it as they make it sound quite. as for knocking ask your local garage to have a quick look at the Wishbone / Suspension Arm Front Lower as the ball joints normally go, if they have never been replaced on your car they will need doing soon i think. (get both sides done if it is them thats causeing the knocking) around £42 each side to buy.

Hi Andy I just like to say thanks for your continued support on here I really appreciate it. Now you mention the engine cover i noticed it only has one rubber mount on it when it's supposed to have 3. I wonder if this is the problem here. I will buy some more off Ebay and report back here to see if it fixes the problem. Than I will move on to the suspension arm front.

As for the glow plug relay do I need to take the bumper off to replace it?

This is the engine cover. I can see it's missing 3 rubber mounts and and the plastic bit which must of snapped off. So I will probably just have to get a new engine cover. I drove without it on and it did make the knocking noises a lot better. As for the glow plug relay is it best to buy brand new? I just hate that I have to throw money on this car due to this problem.

Use the link i posted to get the rubber mounts matey. Dont worry about bit has broken it will save you spending £50 + on a preowned cover. I would get a preowned relay as think they are expensive brand new and you won't waste lots of xtra money if it wasn't the relay 😉

Cheers Andy I brought the ones off the Ebay link you sent me.

I can't seem to find the glow plug relay on my car. I am guessing if it's near the passenger side wheel compartment ? I also I've noticed there's 2 different types of glow plug relays?

During cold starts if the car engine is making a knocking sound when revving but is okay after 5 to 10min of driving wouldn't this rule out a faulty injector? Wouldn't a faulty fuel injector cause issues no matter the weather?

2 diffrent types as 1 is for a 1.5l and the other is for 1.6l in the links you posted. Yes faulty injector would be all the time.
look here matey..

Surely if the glow plug relay was faulty it would throw up some codes in the system? I checked on eBay and they do 1.5 and 1.6 in both so not sure which one I need without stripping that side down. Anyway I decided to take it to my local garage and explained everything and agreed i definitely have a problem with the cold starts and they couldn't pinpoint where the problem was coming from but said it could be the electronics to the fuel filter? Anyway he recommended me a diesel specialist because nissan will have my pants down.
