Qahqai 2019 - P1028 error code

Hey everyone,

Just looking for some help, the engine management light has came on with the code P1028 and says:

- electric pump drive unit
- Permanent
- no additional information

The car still runs fine and it’s not in limp mode at all, had the error cleared but after 20 miles it came back on.

It’s a 2019 plate, 1.5 diesel engine with 39,000 on the clock

Has anyone had this issue before? If so how did you fix the problem?

Thanks mate, just a little confused. In the commentary if refers to P1028 but the title is P0128.

Any idea why or could it just be a typo?

The Navara service manual shows P1028 as "Exhaust Gas Pressure Sensor" (not the "Coolant below thermostat regulating temperature" that you'll find on OBD code pages). You might have a faulty sensor in the exhaust - if your vehicle is fitted with a DPF, there's every chance this is causing you some issues.

It may only be an electrical connection causing the problem. Jack up the car, put it on stands, clamber underneath (cold engine) and disconnect&reconnect all of the sensors connected to the exhaust.
