Hello,

History: The engine was replaced in April 2023 following a breakdown (new refurbished engine, 60,000 km). The DPF was cleaned when the new engine was installed.

Since then, the car has been running without problems, except until the end of December 2023, when a problem with the clutch pedal required the replacement of both the clutch master and slave cylinders.

I got the car back, but since then, it has been very difficult to start the engine and lacks power (unable to climb a hill but no black smoke) + there is the check engine light on. The mechanic who replaced the clutch and the first engine decided to replace the injectors with the old ones from the first engine; this did not make any difference.

Do you have any idea what could be causing my breakdown? The car was running perfectly before the clutch master and slave cylinders were replaced. Could it be related to this intervention?

Thank you in advance to those who will take the time to look into my problem.

Simon

When the injectors were replaced we're they coded to the vehicle correctly?. If not they will operate at a basic level.
Before that though, what was the code that made the mechanic think it was injectors?. Do you know what the codes were/are?.
Cars are complex things nowadays, however if everything was ok before the work was carried out, then that's a very big coincidence.

However all that said they wouldn't run that badly in my opinion.

Model, year, engine?.

Hello Brommas,

Thank you for your response.

The vehicle is a 2013 Qashqai, first generation 1.6 dCi, 130/4WD.

I don't know what the codes were or are, but I'll ask the mechanic to provide that information. To be honest, he's not specialized in Qashqais or Nissans in general.

I think (and hope) it might be related to the need to code the injectors, and possibly the clutch master and slave cylinders. I'll have to consult a proper Nissan vehicle specialist.

Have you heard of a similar situation where changing a part of the vehicle, which was not coded properly, caused the vehicle to malfunction?

Thank you

I'm not familiar with the 1.6 dci in all honesty, i doubt the injectors would have such a large impact at base settings. It would run rough but not that bad. Codes is the place to start,
there so many possibilities. Will check back in a day or so and see if you've had a chance to get them. I'm super busy at the minute but will do my best to pop in every day or 2, hopefully someone else with more knowledge on that engine will drop in also.

There are too many variables and we have no direction until we have what the codes are, we can guess at things but that's really not the way to go. I understand waiting is frustrating.

It's possibly coincidence, then again its also possible that something has been knocked, broken etc etc . I've come across all sorts of things over the years, but I'm semi retired now and just look after a few ex customers that became close friends vehicles, so I'm not as up to speed as many others here are on such modern vehicles. If you were local to the Midlands I would happily put it on my scanner for you. Obd2 is good but sometimes you need more information other than generic obd2.
