New. Car Sept 2023. After period of rain rear doors fill with water and when you open the doors up to a quarter of a litre of water is dumped on the ground. Car has been with the dealer on six occasions. Door membranes changed 4 times problem still evident. Nissan UK agrees for door seals to be changed (which is the obvious problem) . Door seals replaced problem still apparent, dealership says they have tested 3 other vehicles and 2 of them have the same problem. Nissan UK contacted and after lengthy email discussions and without inspecting the car have stated that it is water from the door drainage system and is totally acceptable, they have since refused to discuss the matter probably because the solution would mean significant cost in redesigning, manufacturing and replacing the door seals.

Shouldn’t the rear doors be designed NOT to fill with water isn’t that the point of a drainage system??

I don't think the water is inside the door its more likely the door drains but water is trapped by the main seal. One fix for this is to have a cut away in the main seal right at the bottom but I am reluctant to try it. I park on an up slope so I might just try parking nose down to see if it helps.

Nissan have at last agreed that the problem is the main door seal, but don’t have a solution. They have offered me a free service, but reluctant to agree in case it impacts on any future warranty claim due to corrosion of the doors.

I have now looked more closely at this and see that the doors have two separate seals and at the bottom they are at different levels. This leaves a region between the seals where water gets trapped and the source of the water is likely to be draining via the window aperture. So my earlier post still holds good. The lower seal needs a notch to allow water to escape but I'm still reluctant to try it!
