As said above your request for CCTV footage has to be responded to and small fee may be applied.
I think you are not the only one with similar issue and the car manufacturers are covered very well in case of legal persuasion...
it is in the owner manual that the electric hand brake may stop working due to overheating, and also that is the owner responsibility to apply handbrake and put in gear.
