In response as to what Castrol Grade in retail channel is suitable, they advise:

Hmm. So what they seem to be suggesting is that if you want to top up your oil between services and use the same oil as the stealer you have to go back to your stealer so they can rip you off! Good protective marketing there me thinks.

I am not sure if this is of help but this old Post on the Oil for the 1,2 DIG-T might be of interest, but it does look like that a lot of the websites do not function anymore :

Just for interest the oil our Dealer has used on all our 4 previous Nissan's (now 1,2L Petrol) was Nissan Oil 5W40 from the Drum (208 L / 46 UK galls) and it was marked Total / Elf but was also available in 1L Containers. The Nissan No. is KE900-90032 (1L) please see the attachment it might help you for Nissan Oils :

It makes you wonder why Nissan Oils are not used, is it the cheaper price for example and mark up - Dave

My Tekna goes in next Tuesday for its first service so will ask them what oil they use and where else I can buy it from.

Update.
Service went OK,free courtsey car,recall on rear wheel arch bracket done.
Asked what oil they used and was told NISSANS own brand so I bought a litre for top up if necessary

RVW, that looks a pretty good price I found this Oil on eBay for £12,50 / Liter so at Nissan you got a bargain - well done Dave

The annoying thing is that I could have got it FREE !
When I first went in the morning I asked about the oil etc and asked for a litre of oil to take home with me.
On returning to collect the car nothing was said about the oil, so as you do I asked about it.
The assistant went away then came back with the invoice and said it was already in the car and they had forgotten about it. Had I just left in the first place I would not have had to pay for it! Oh well

RVW, your Price is still pretty damn good. I have just bought 1litre of Nissan 5W-40 from our Dealer (just as a backup) and it cost €16,85 (£14,67) - Dave
