I'm not 100% sure, but I think the navigation software is separate from the rest of the Connect software, because when you get a later card it sometimes has to upgrade the navigation software when you put the card in. Think this happened with the v2 card but not the v3.

Absolutely correct. I believe this time they made a sufficient buffer for the next future map updates

Actually, this got me thinking - where on earth is the v4 card? Should have been out in October and when I contacted them in October they said all done and should be out in November. Told me the map data on it was Q1 2018. At this rate, the v4 is going to be well out of date as soon as it goes on sale.

My personal guess is that Nissan didn’t get well with HERE. That possibly could explain why also other service was stopped to be provided by HERE e.g. update of Warning POI was already unavailable from 8/2018.

It used to be, you’d sell a car and that would be it. Now there are firmware updates, micro controller updates etc etc.

It's very good observation. I think that too, because I send an email to Nissan for Warning speedcamera POI and Connect 3 v4 GPS map and they say that v3 is the last map and send me to verify web site for further info. Lame answer.

I've got a 2hr drive to do on Thursday so I may finally do this as I'm now getting the "music cutting out for 30 seconds" followed by occasional reboots of the Connect software whilst driving.

Reading through this post, some other threads, and some other forums, it appears this is happening to a LOT of people over the last few weeks, and some have said Nissan told them lots more people have reported it, so I'm wondering if it's some kind of recent change with something being transmitted - traffic updates, GPS info, etc. Maybe the format has changed and the Connect fails to process it correctly?? It seems too much of a coincidence that so many hardware units will fail at the same time.

Having said that, my warranty is up for renewal for a 5th year in 3 weeks time, £390. With some of the prices being bandied around if it is a hardware fault, I think it's helped my decision to renew.

I made the update last year with the help of @duncho info and the unit work flawless by now. No reboot and no loss of music/sound.
