Nissan and TEPCO launch virtual power plant project

Post by DaveBerlin » Tue Dec 19, 2017 1:59 pm

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) will launch a study in Japan to determine how electric vehicles can help stabilize power grid demand. A group of TEPCO employees using the Nissan e-NV200 electrical commercial van and Nissan employees using the 100% electric Nissan LEAF, the world’s best-selling electric vehicle, will participate. The project starts Dec 13th and will run until the end of January - Dave ;)

another Partnership to promote E-Cars but in Japan - Dave :)
Nissan and Shikoku Electric join forces to promote electric cars. Buyers of the new Nissan LEAF in a region of western Japan will earn points that they can use to help pay their utility bills, as part of a partnership to promote electric cars.

How your car could be part of a 'virtual power plant. Danish utility company Frederiksberg Forsyning is part of a vehicle-to-grid scheme.
Its all-electric vans which incidently are Nissan NV200 Electric, charge up from the central grid, but at night the roles are reversed.
The vehicles' batteries become an energy store that the grid can draw on to smooth out fluctuations in supply and demand - Dave :)
