Cheers Steve. Will see how I get on at weekend!
I'm sure you will have realised that when I mentioned about putting a tiny dab of copper slip top and bottom of the brake pads I meant the metal tips either end of the pads that slide into the housing, not the actual pads :D

Steve61 - they're mechanical sensors not electrical - i.e. they just squeal

Argh, the old scrape plates. How did you get on changing them. All good 👍

I would advise replacing the rotors and the pads, not just the pads.

In the old days the pads would wear out a lot faster than the rotors. These days the pads contain a lot abrasive compounds that wear the rotors a lot more. Also, as the rotors will have a lot of gouges, groves in them there will be a lot of the pad not in contact with the rorltor until they wear down.

So to reiterate. Change the pads and rotors.

Morning all. Had my 2016 QQ in for its interval (oil change) service. They had two advisories, one being rear tyres (no problem there). The other was that the front brake pads were approximately 80% worn. I picked the vehicle up at 15k on the clock, I've done 35k since so I'm not disputing that they will need doing soon. What I would like to know though, is if the brake pads have wear sensors? I intend on ordering the brake pads and fitting myself (with help from mechanic friend) and quite comfortable with doing so. However, if it requires sensors as well, I'm wondering if it would be better to take it to a garage? I'm not convinced there are sensors although I could be wrong, as I'm basing that assumption on the fact that the on board computer has not alerted me to the fact they are worn?

Your help as always, greatly appreciated.

Too late. I did the front pads only. This was recommendation from Nissan service who said the discs were very slightly lipped but nothing to worry about this time. I figure I'll do the discs and pads altogether next time.

And to update, yes, no problems removing the front pads. Straightforward to be honest. Took about 15-20mins each side.
