Breakdown Woes

Hello all,

Joined the forums to try and decrypt the breakdown report from The AA earlier today. I am handy with a spanner and not afraid to get my hands dirty but I am hoping to be pointed in the right direction rather than just start removing parts!

We have recovered your vehicle.poss turbo actuatorPatrol found the following fault code/s:System : Engine control - 5Z4 / Diesel EDC 17C84 Status :P2263 - Boost pressure control. Error Message : Upper signal amplitude too high. Error static. Status :P1525 - Cruise control/speed limiter. Error Message : Malfunction. Error static.P1130 - Unknown fault. A quick google, P1615 is to do with the immobiliser, If you don't already own one, and you want to work on your car yourself, I would suggest you buy a reasonable fault code reader. I use an iCar Soft, which I bought when I had my Mercedes as it was costing £45 each time I needed a fault code read. Apparently the i903 is designed for the Nissan and are about £90. I use the i810 which is a little cheaper at about £50

Hi and thank you for the reply. I have Google the codes and do indeed have a code reader but it seems to point to various possible problems. The AA chap seemed to think the egr or dpf was at fault though none of these are directly involved with any of these codes. The immobiliser issue is a seperate and occasional problem that I'm not too worried about at present

The vehicle is currently stuck in limp mode. Is the turbo a VNT type and where is the egr on this engine? I read it is difficult to access but cannot find any reference to where it is!

Update. Checked the oil this morning and it's on minimum (serviced last week) and blowing blue smoke. Turbo gone then? If so, which turbo is fitted? Thanks
