Passenger Map Light

Post by Bumbala » Thu Sep 12, 2019 2:38 pm

Hi everybody,

We bought a 2016 Qashqai with panoramic sunroof one month ago. Recently, I figured out the rear right passenger map light doesn't work. I removed the light assembly and took out the bulb to replace with a new one, but it doesn't work in any mode. I figured out that the old bulb was 12V8W and the new bulb is 12V10W. Also, I found out that if you touch one end to the bottom of the assembly and one to the leg, the light works, but it doesn't work when you fit the bulb as it should be. Is wattage the problem or is the assembly (switch) dead?

Thanks.

Wattage shouldn't be the problem. Sounds like a bad contact in the assembly.

Ok thanks. Then I should let the dealer fix it, because the car came with warranty :)

Bumbala, in the good old days most “DIY Mechanics” and some of us are still around getting dirty hands, played around and sorted out their Car Problems, today is that word “Electronics” that has a Big Play. Why play around sorting out problems when you have a Nissan Guarantee that has been payed for so let the Dealer sort it out for you when he can - Dave 😉

Dave, I have to drive 20 miles to the dealer, plus the time wasted. I paid 1 quid for the bulb, fiddled around to change the bulb though. When a light goes out, the first thing you suspect is the bulb. I would never imagine the problem is with the assembly since it is a basic circuit. These new generation engineers...

I went to the dealer today. He wentin with the faulty assembly and came back with a working one. I don't know whether he repaired it or had another one, but now both map lights work :)

Good to hear you got it fixed and it works and at least sometimes the Nissan Dealers do their job - Dave 👍
